Iv tried at Jawahar Book Depot...
what he has to offer is the printed material of sir.(I went all the way from Kamla nagar(north))
And the class notes he has , contain jumbled up pages all over.(like personality topics in aviation)
I wrote the mains last time without sir's notes and I dont want to repeat that again...so please help me find anyone who can provide me sir's class notes.(I'v tried all shops of north area also but they dont have handwritten class notes,rather the printed material)

Imran, you can opt mathematics only if you have done it at graduation level somehow. Such as in your engineering course, otherwise it would be difficult to score good marks in mathematics with at least 6 monts extensive study.

how much money does it take to prepare in delhi?i mean to ask lodging food etc?and how easy or tough it is to stay there?moreover does it get stressful to be at ur room the whole day in case u r finished with ur coaching and all and preparing on ur own?
ReplyDeletefor optionals it will be about 40,000 and for general studies it will be around 60,000 and for stay in delhi it takes about 8000.stress depends on you

Hie Sudhir, I can understand the dilemma of choosing the right optionals, I went through it and finally decided on Psychology and English Literature. Its a tough job to take up literature because there is no help available, no coaching, no good notes, no help on the net either, all that is there is a set of notes by some Bharat Tutorials that I got from Jawahar book shop. I still haven't been able to start with the English prep.
If someone here with English as the optional could share his/her experience or guide a bit, it would really be very kind.

Also there are lots of books on global issues , routledge series of Key concepts which are on topics like politics,economics,key thinkers in psychology,sociology,philosophy and many more..

ReplyDeleteI have a small issue eating away my brain.Actually I have completed my masters and presently I am in US still searching for a job.I expressed my intentions to prepare for civils with my sister and brotehr-in-law.But my brother-in-law outrightly said to drop the plan and stay back in US and try for a software job.The reason he gave for asking me to drop Civils Plan was that one has to have a plan of civils right from the first year of their bachelors.Thats the reason he was asking me to drop the idea.He may be right but as far as my knowledge it`s not the case of every one .What do you guys say about this ?Hope some of you might have the faced the same situation.So thought of asking someone like you.
I have done my bachelors in EEE and my masters in Computer Science.But I am planning to take PA and 1 more subject in Civils.If any one of you guys have a similar plans like me please do suggest me.

My strategy is vry simple.... i look at the syllabus and then i try to get my concepts right and gain competence on 1 topic at a time......
CSE'10 will be my 1st attempt.. and i have just completed reading Sociology: Themes and Perspectives - Haralambos :)

im having lot of problems with manking notes in synoptic for,reading newspaper....i have enlisted my probles in detail below
1.im not able to make synoptic notes,im goin for vajiram classes for geo,notes are pilling up ,the notes im reading but is it mandatory to memorize the notes ,or can it be memorized by writing synopsis,but in that sitaution synopsis are to be in detail......im not able to understand mam.....are synopsis supposed to be short or sufficient for having main ponts which can make up answer by manipulating....please help me man...i would be greatly obliged

I do not have any coaching material.... I am preparing from standard books... I do not know names of many books...because the place where i live has very little guidance on UPSC examination. But I can tell u the name of the books that i am studying-
1.Haralambos - Themes and Perspectives (Already thru with this one)
2. David Mandelbaum - Indian Society
3. Y.Singh - Indian Society
Then missing topics from IGNOU and INTERNET.
Also.... I keep newspaper cuttings on various issues and try to seem them thru sociological eyes... As in - If there was a singur.... How would u see it from Interactionist perspective , Functionalist perspective and Conflict Perspective... It helps u in building concepts and write good answers and also prepares ur GS and Essay part well....
PS: Since CSE'10 is my first attempt and i have not attended any coaching class - All this may be an approach borne out of my whims and fancies.....it may be wrong.... but on the flip side it may be correct as well :p

Psychology: Mukul sir
GS: Sriram's has the best faculty( Vajiram is a propaganda-driven tutorial- irrelevant information dump)
Pub admn: please do not join any place. All abysmally low standards. Whole India is waiting to cheat you! tread cautiously)
Physics: Vajpayee
As a parent i want all children to be educated well and get value for money.

ReplyDeleteI need your help related to OBC age relaxation for Civil service exams.
Currently, I am working with one of the Big 4's and will be appearing for 2010 exams as OBC candidate. Since I have crossed the maximum age limit prescribed for General category candidate, hence I will be as an OBC candidate.
I have an OBC certificate, but am confused whether UPSC also has an requirements for creamy layer, as I have gone through last years UPSC notification for civil service, but have found no info on that, except that the candidate should posses an OBC certificate to claim age relaxation.
Please revert, as I am taking transfer to Delhi in coming months for civil preparation.

@ shaveta.s You are true. There is almost no information available for English Literature as an optional. On the other hand most of the people discourage to take this optional.

(iv) Number of Attempts: Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even in one paper is counted as an attempt.

My first optional is Public Administration. I decided to join Nov batch Pub Ad classes being held at Synergy institute, Delhi.
Few days back i met Anuchit Sir (AIR 100), who suggested that Hyderabad is a better option for this subject.
Can someone advice me as to which institute is best in the country for Pub Ad.
plz giv inputs regarding Braintree(hyderabad) and Synergy(delhi) .Which is better?
Is Braintree the best bet in Hyd?
I know that self study is more important,but coaching too plays a major role..

no any notification of the cs(pre) has been uploaded on the upsc site yet. few sites have mentioned the date of notification being 16th december n the last date for receipt of app. 15th january. i cudnt find anything even on the employment news' site.
